Hiring a domestic worker in Dubai used to mean many office visits. GDRFA Dubai now offers one digital process that cuts the process from 11 steps to 6.
The service is called Domestic Workers Management. It sits under the General Directorate of Identity and Foreign Affairs in Dubai. It pulls several separate procedures into one online path. You no longer need to chase each step at a different counter.
What the digital service covers
Nine procedures now sit inside the same customer process. The list includes employment contracts and health insurance. It also covers work permit issuance and cancellation, visa issuance, and status adjustment. Medical fitness testing, residence permit issuance, and Emirates ID services are in the same flow.
The point is simple. One flow now handles paperwork that used to be split across agencies.
What actually got faster
The redesign cut more than the step count. Six separate payment channels became one. Required customer visits fell from six to a maximum of two. That is the part residents notice first. Fewer trips. Fewer queues. Fewer repeated document handovers.
GDRFA Dubai said the initiative has already processed 10,813 transactions. It also removed the need for 25,676 paper documents. Customers saved 4.3 million dirhams in direct costs. The agency reported a carbon cut equal to about 72.5 tonnes of CO₂ from the paper reduction alone.
Those numbers matter if you hire help often. Each saved visit is time back in your day. Each joined payment is one less queue and one less receipt to track.

Who built it
The service is a joint effort, not a single-agency product. GDRFA Dubai worked with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It also worked with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. Digital Dubai, Dubai Health, and Dubai Insurance took part too.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri is Director General of GDRFA Dubai. He said the result came from real collaboration that put several entities into one customer process. Colonel Expert Khalid Ahmed Bin Madia Al Falasi is Assistant Director General of Digital Services Affairs at GDRFA Dubai. He said connecting government data and unifying channels is what lets residents finish procedures with less friction.
The project also won Best Digital City Experience under the Hamdan bin Mohammed Program for Government Services. The award is a signal that Dubai is still pushing multi-agency services into single digital windows. For residents, the award is secondary. The daily gain is the shorter path.
How to use it in practice
If you are sponsoring a domestic worker in Dubai, start with GDRFA Dubai digital channels. Do not book a multi-office run on day one. Confirm which of the nine procedures still need an in-person visit. The redesign allows up to two visits, not zero. Keep employment contract, insurance, and identity details ready before you open the form.
Using the integrated path is the practical win. The old model sent people to several counters for the same hire. The new model keeps most of that work in one place. If a step still needs a medical centre or an identity desk, you should see that inside the same process rather than discovering it mid-process.
Bring digital copies of contracts and IDs if the form accepts uploads. Check payment once at the end instead of paying the same file in six places. If something fails, note the step name in the digital process so support can find it faster.
For employers who already hire through an agency, ask the agency whether it uses the same GDRFA path. The service is built for residents, but agencies may still handle parts of the flow for you. What you want is the same six-step endpoint, not a return to the old multi-stop route.
