How Bangladeshis apply for an e-passport in the UAE

The Bangladesh e-passport route in the UAE: online registration, biometric enrolment, NID or birth-record checks, lost passports and the right mission for your emirate.

Use this guide when a Bangladeshi passport is expiring, has less than the required validity, needs a data correction or has been lost. Bangladesh’s e-passport process in the UAE is an online application followed by an in-person biometric appointment. Fees, delivery routes and office instructions change, so the embassy or consulate page is the final checklist.

Start online, then attend in person

The official Bangladesh mission guidance says that e-passport applicants begin online, schedule an appointment and attend for biometric enrolment. Reissue is treated much like a fresh e-passport application: even an existing passport holder must follow the current online and biometric steps. Do not book a flight around a general processing estimate.

Before opening the form, decide which category fits: ordinary reissue, lost passport, data correction, newborn or another special case. A different category can change the supporting documents and whether the mission needs prior permission. Keep the online application summary, payment receipt, old passport and appointment confirmation together.

Check your identity records

The mission’s e-passport instructions say applicants may need a Bangladeshi National Identity Card or a verifiable 17-digit Birth Registration Certificate in the relevant cases. If you rely on a birth record, check that the verification page contains the applicant’s name and the parents’ names in English and that the spelling matches the application. Do not submit a new spelling to solve an old mismatch without asking the mission first.

Bring the current or most recent passport, UAE legal-status evidence, identity records and any document supporting a change in name, date of birth or family status. Originals and copies may both be required. A child, a first-time applicant, a lost passport and a data correction are not interchangeable cases.

Choose the correct mission

The Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Bangladesh Consulate General in Dubai publish separate service information. The embassy’s official passport guidance directs people who live in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to use the Dubai consulate for consular services. Check the current jurisdiction, office hours, holiday notice and appointment link before you travel.

Use only the current official domain and the contact route published on the service page. A courier, typing centre or social-media agent may help with a form, but cannot waive biometric enrolment or decide whether a correction is accepted. Keep the receipt for every official payment.

Lost, damaged and corrected passports

If the passport is lost, report it to the concerned UAE police station first. The official Bangladesh guidance says the police report should clearly identify the lost Bangladeshi passport. The remaining process then follows the mission’s e-passport reissue route. If an MRP is lost, the mission may offer more than one route; if an e-passport is lost, the official guidance says to use e-passport reissue.

For a data correction, gather the document that proves the correct name, birth date, parent detail or family status. The mission may ask for a new biometric appointment even when the passport is being reissued. Do not assume the passport, NID, birth record and UAE identity file will be corrected automatically together.

Fees and delivery

The Bangladesh mission publishes the applicable fee and delivery options for its service. Check the current page at the moment you book and again before you submit; old notices can show discontinued MRP arrangements or earlier courier charges. Select delivery or collection exactly as the current form allows and keep the delivery slip.

If the application is delayed, quote the application or delivery reference through the official contact route. Do not pay an intermediary who promises a guaranteed passport date. Keep a scanned copy of the passport bio page, UAE visa or Emirates ID, application summary and receipt in a secure place.

Before your appointment

Save the current e-passport instructions, application confirmation, appointment, fee page and jurisdiction notice. Carry originals, copies and a digital backup. Check that all names and dates agree across your passport, NID or birth registration, UAE records and supporting documents. If the case involves loss, a newborn, a major correction or urgent travel, contact the relevant Bangladesh mission before buying a non-refundable ticket.
