The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) forecast temperatures as high as 49°C on 10 August, with a chance of rain and blowing dust. Dubai was expected to reach 44°C, with a minimum around 35°C.
Conditions were fair to partly cloudy across the UAE. Convective clouds were expected by afternoon over some eastern and southern areas, bringing a chance of rainfall. Exact districts and shower duration are rarely fixed in a national outlook, so local radar and later NCM updates remain the better guide once the day develops.
Coastal and island areas were forecast between 42°C and 47°C. Inland areas were hotter, from 45°C to 49°C. City highs included Abu Dhabi at 46°C, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah at 45°C, Al Ain at 45°C and Liwa at 47°C. Ajman and Umm Al Quwain were around 43°C, with Fujairah cooler at about 35°C. Minimums ranged from about 31°C in Umm Al Quwain to 35°C in Dubai and Liwa.
Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds were expected to freshen at times, reaching about 40km/h inland and kicking up dust and sand. The Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman were forecast slight, with waves near two feet by the shore and three feet offshore.
On days like this, heat stress is the main risk for outdoor workers and midday school runs. Blowing dust can cut visibility on open roads. Any rain is likely brief and local rather than a full cool-down.
