Dubai Police summoned a motorcyclist who was filmed travelling at more than 290kmph and performing dangerous stunts. The footage showed the rider using one wheel and weaving between vehicles.
Specialist traffic patrols identified and apprehended the rider after the video appeared. Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, said police impounded the motorcycle and referred the rider to the relevant authorities.
The motorcycle can only be released after a 50,000-dirham impoundment fee is paid. Other legal procedures may also apply. The fee is linked to Dubai Decree No. 30 of 2023 on vehicle impoundment.
The reports do not name a specific article in the decree. They also do not give a court date or a final legal outcome for the rider.
Why the riding was dangerous
Police said speeds above 290kmph leave a rider with less time to react, steer or stop. They also increase the force of a crash.
Weaving between vehicles creates a serious risk for other road users. A driver may check that a lane is clear, then face a motorcycle arriving seconds later.
Riding on one wheel also reduces balance, steering and braking control. A road obstacle, crosswind or sudden move can make the motorcycle harder to control.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan said excessive speed narrows a rider's field of vision and affects distance judgement. Sudden moves can also cause crashes involving other motorists.
He said Dubai Police uses smart enforcement systems and field patrols to find reckless drivers and riders. "The road is not a place for stunts or speed tests," he said.
Police urged motorcyclists to follow traffic laws and ride responsibly.
Safe riding gives everyone more time to react. Riders can protect themselves and others by keeping a safe speed, leaving space between vehicles and avoiding sudden moves in traffic. Public roads should never be used for stunt riding.
